Visitors can choose from low speed boats, speed boats or motorboats as they go for the boating activity. The speed boats are definite to satisfy the tastes of adventure seekers as they can cruise about in the dam. While, nature lovers can opt for low speed boats, gently floating on the water enjoying the serene surroundings. The place has and entry fee and the speed boat service can be availed at Ruppees 750/- (for 5 pax).

Another destination that offers boating in Munnar is the Mattupetty dam and lake. Mattupetty is located at about 13km from Munnar at an altitude of 1700m. The major attractions that bring visitors to the place are Mattupetty Lake and the dam with the same name. One of the major activities that take place here is boating. Boats are available to be hired for hours or even for the day. The lake has picturesque natural beauty all around. The boating facilities in the place are arranged by the District Tourism Promotion Council (DTPC), Idukki.

Kundala is yet another beautiful hill station that is situated at about 20 km from Munnar. The place which once was the summer resort of the British Government in South India is rich in scenic beauty. The place offers the Shikara boat ride. Riding on the serene waters amidst the tea gardens and hills enjoying the scenic beauty of the surroundings makes it unbelievably romantic and a must-try one for those visiting Munnar on their honeymoon.
